Maintenance Items

The essential maintenance items required to keep a bagpipe airtight, hygienic, and in optimal playing condition can be organized by their 

• Bagpipe Hemp: Thread used to wrap the tuning slides and joints (tenons).

• Waxed Hemp (Black or Yellow): Coated with beeswax or cobbler's wax to create an airtight seal and provide base grip.

• Unwaxed Yellow Hemp: Wrapped over waxed layers to absorb condensation and swell naturally, ensuring a snug fit.

• PTFE (Teflon) Tape: Plumbers' tape used on top of hemp for fine-tuning the friction or fixing a loose joint quickly.
