Bagpipe Bag
A bagpipe bag is an airtight reservoir that holds air and regulates its flow via arm pressure, allowing the player to maintain a continuous, even sound.
• Function: Acts as a wind chest, keeping the instrument supplied with air while the player breathes or pumps via bellows.
• Materials: Traditionally crafted from animal skins (such as sheep, goat, ox, or sheep stomachs). Modern bags—such as those used for the Great Highland Bagpipe—are commonly made from treated leather or synthetic materials.
