Authentic Black Watch Baldric Sash / Cross Belt Sash for the Black Watch - 42nd Regiment of Foot - Royal Highland Regiment of Scotland. Worn by Drum Majors, Pipe Majors and Colour Sergeants. Manufactured in regulation Black Watch Government Tartan wool with leather / buff finish options...
Black Watch Baldric Sash - Royal Highland Regiment - The Black Watch Baldric Sash is one of the most distinguished and historic sashes in the British Army. Worn by the world-famous Black Watch - 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS) - formerly the 42nd Regiment of Foot.
Unlike the standard infantry sergeant's wool sash worn from shoulder to hip, the Baldric Sash is a ceremonial cross-belt / shoulder belt worn over the left shoulder. It traditionally carries the sword, dirk, or drum and is a symbol of authority for Drum Majors, Pipe Majors, and senior NCOs on ceremonial parade.
We offer two authentic versions:
1. Black Watch Tartan Baldric Sash (Wool):
Woven in the historic Black Watch Government Tartan - Dark Blue, Green and Black sett. Made from 100% worsted wool with a heavy, regulation-weight weave. This is the traditional tartan baldric worn with Highland Dress, No.1 Dress, and Pipe Band Full Dress.
2. Black Watch White Buff Baldric (Leather):
Traditional white buff leather baldric with Black Watch regimental badge mount, worn by officers and Warrant Officers for carrying the Claymore. Often lined with Black Watch tartan.

History & Heritage:
The Black Watch was formed in 1725 and is the oldest Highland Regiment in Scotland. Their dark tartan - known as the Government Sett - was chosen to provide camouflage in the Highlands, earning them the name "Am Freiceadan Dubh" - The Black Watch. The Baldric Sash preserves that heritage on the parade square today.
