Tara Brooch - Celtic Penannular Brooch - Silver - Scottish Plaid Brooch

Traditional Scottish / Irish Tara brooch, also called penannular brooch, cloak brooch, or fly plaid brooch.

This design is the classic Tara Brooch shape - large open circular ring with a gap at the bottom, with ornate ends featuring Celtic knotwork and thistle / floral engraving. Long pin goes through the center with decorative Celtic knot head - pin moves to secure the plaid.

This is the original style of plaid brooch before the round disc style became popular - very traditional for ancient Highland dress.
