The formal finishing piece for Highland dress. A fly plaid is the pleated plaid worn over the left shoulder and pinned with a plaid brooch at the chest.

This one is made in Hunting Stewart tartan - dark green and navy ground with red, bright yellow and white overchecks. The hunting version of the famous Royal Stewart tartan, designed for outdoor and hunting use but now hugely popular for weddings and formal events because of its rich green tones. Universal tartan, anyone can wear it.

This is the FLY PLAID (short formal version), not the long piper plaid.
